Dumbrava Minunata is one of the many works of Mihail Sadoveanu, a prolific and versatile Romanian writer. He was born in 1880 in Pascani, a town in the historical region of Moldavia. He studied law and literature in Bucharest and became involved in journalism and politics. He was a member of several literary and cultural societies, and a supporter of the peasant movement and the national liberation struggle.
Sadoveanu wrote over 100 novels and short stories, covering a wide range of genres and themes. He is known for his historical fiction, inspired by the medieval and modern history of Romania, as well as his realistic and social novels, depicting the life and struggles of the peasants, workers and intellectuals. He also wrote children's literature, fantasy, adventure, mystery and horror stories.
