About LipoLaser:
The Health Canada approved LAPEX 2000 LipoLaser - a non-invasive, pain-free laser treatment for spot fat reduction and aesthetic body-forming. Using innovative laser technology, the LipoLaser targets fat tissue layers, instantly refining and reshaping problem areas including waistlines, arms, legs, thighs, buttocks and back. LipoLaser uses patent and patent-pending technology to externally target fat cells during each treatment session. Treatments are completely non-invasive and pain-free, allowing clients to resume normal activities immediately after each treatment without any residual bruising, swelling or discomfort. "Studies have shown that those who eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly will experience the best LipoLaser results. However, even those with sluggish metabolisms have reported a unique and invigorating body wake-up," said Brazier. During treatments, the fat cells are made temporarily permeable allowing cell contents to spill out, converting the fat to free fatty acids, water and glycerol, which in turn are processed through the body's natural metabolic functions. The body can easily process the amount of mobilized fat released during a standard treatment cycle. Low-level laser technology has been used and studied for more than 20 years for a variety of biomedical purposes including wound healing, pain relief and inflammation. Meridian Medical conducted an FDA and Health Canada-requested double-blind randomized institutional review board study on the safety and efficacy of the LipoLaser. The study concluded that LipoLaser provided a significant girth loss, which was maintained over repeated treatments. The LipoLaser's small size and ease of portability allows trained technicians to conduct treatments in any small room with a standard electrical outlet from exam rooms to treatment rooms to the home. LipoLaser is a stand-alone body-forming laser system, which has received Health Canada approval and is exclusively distributed by Meridian Medical Inc. in North America. "With a single treatment, LipoLaser has the ability to reduce waistlines and other areas by one to four centimetres on most skin and body types, setting it apart from any other body-forming aesthetic device on the market," said Anna Brazier, president of Meridian Medical Inc. "Doctors have reported as much as five inches of loss after a standard four week treatment cycle. The LipoLaser offers clients the luxury of inch loss without having to go under the knife."

How LipoLaser Works
Lipolaser is safe, painless, and completely non-invasive treatment for spot fat reduction and aesthetic body contouring. Here's how it works:
- LipoLaser paddles are placed on the patient’s skin for 10 minutes per treatment area. Laser energy that is specifically designed to target fat cells safely and painlessly penetrates several millimeters into the subcutaneous adipose (fat) tissue layer.
- The fat (in the form of triglycerides) is converted to free fatty acids (FFA’s), water and glycerol.
- Because the laser energy causes the fat cell walls to be made permeable for a temporary period, cell contents are able to spill out into the interstitial space.

What happens to the FAA's, water and glycerol?
During a standard treatment cycle, the body can easily process the amount of mobilized fat that is released. In a nutshell, here's what happens:
- The FFA’s are utilized in the body as energy or are reabsorbed by other cells
- The water is used by the body or excreted
- The glycerol is processed through natural metabolic functions.
LipoLaser FAQ

How does non-invasive LipoLaser technology work? Non-invasive LipoLaser technology works with a patented cold laser conductor that is placed on the skin over areas to be treated for 30 minutes. Originally designed to speed up healing, doctors noticed that the cold laser technology would also liquefy fat cells painlessly. In contrast to Liposuction, the non-invasive LipoLaser does not remove the fat cell, it drains it. The fat can be metabolized normally by a healthy person, reshaping body contour by a few inches each week. |
So the fat cells actually get smaller? Yes! Fat cells are significantly reduced in size. This results in substantial body contour improvements. That's what makes LipoLaser such a great target treatment for trouble spots such as love handles, muffin-top and saddllebags. Significant results are seen in just a few treatments. |
Where does the fat go? LaserLipo treatments act to liquefy fats, which are drained through the lymphatic system. The effectiveness of fat drainage during and after treatment is dependent on proper functioning of the lymphatic system, which is responsible for removing wastes from the body. |
Is LipoLaser Safe? Yes. The LipoLaser is a cold laser and cold laser therapies have been safely employed for more than 30 years in clinics throughout the world. In fact, the initial purpose of low level laser technology ( Meridian's Lapex-2000) was for pain relief and cell regeneration for healing. LipoLaser is not suitable for those who are pregnant, have a kidney disorder, liver disease, poorly controlled diabetes or hypertension; epilepsy, have a pacemaker, have cancer and/or undergoing radiation therapy. It is not for use on children. |
Is it painful? Does it hurt? There is no pain or discomfort during or after the Laser treatment. |
What areas of the body can be treated? Treatments are effective for use on the back of the arms, the upper and lower abdomen, knees, upper and lower back, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, love handles, and the male chest. |
What results can I expect from the Laser Lipo treatment? Male and female clients have found that those hard to reduce trouble spots, such as love handles, tummy bulge, and saddlebags can be treated quite significantly within just a few treatments. LipoLaser can help you contour and sculpt those places that do not respond to exercise and diet, as well as improve your cellulite and your overall appearance. The LipoLaser helps tighten the skin as fat is lost by stimulating collagen and elastin production. This skin tightening is an important benefit and works well with a weight loss or post surgical program to help prevent saggy skin rolls. |
Do I have to diet and exercise? Studies have found that clients who eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly will experience the best LipoLaser results; however, even clients with sluggish metabolism remark that they experience a unique and invigorating ‘body wake up.’ |
How can I optimize my results from LipoLaser? Patients can optimize their results through multiple LipoLaser treatments each of which is immediately followed with 10 minutes of an activity meant to encourage lymph drainage . We use whole body vibration training for 10 minutes immediately following each LipoLaser treatment for just this purpose. |
Who is the ideal candidate for LipoLaser treatment? There is not really an "ideal" candidate. The LipeLaser has been shown to be effective on many different body types. The most immediately noticeable results are often shown on individuals who exercise (or have exercised) regularly, are not obese and/or who have localized fat deposits that they cannot get rid of with diet or exercise. |
Does LipoLaser work on men?
Yes! Laser Lipo works just as well on men as it does on women. Men generally have the greatest success in the upper and lower abs, and the love handles. |
How many treatments are required? The recommended treatment protocol is 2 -3 times per week for 4 – 6 weeks and is sold in packages of 8 – 12 treatments depending on the clients desired results. |
Who will perform the treatments? Treatments are always administered by trained and certified staff. |
Will I have downtime after my treatments? No. After your treatment, there is no requirement for bed rest or reduced activity and you can resume your normal schedule immediately. |
Can Laser Lipo get rid of the belly I gained from having babies? Yes! It is perfect for targeting the areas with stubborn fat, like your lower abs after having a baby. |
How can Laser Lipo improve the look of my stomach? More of our clients come in to treat their abs than any other part of their body. It's all about inches lost. While the waist and hip size goes down, so does the pant size. |
